The 8th annual Swim for the Future event took place on Saturday, September 13, 2008. Triple Gold Medalist and Olympic Commentator Rowdy Gaines hosted the pool ceremony and awards brunch on the roof deck. This year’s event was another great success!

SWIM FOR THE FUTURE honors the lives of two Masters Swimmers—Andrew Fisher and Doug Irgang—who tragically lost their lives in the World Trade Center attack. Proceeds from the Swim for the Future Benefit support their memorial fund, which provides financial support each year to young competitive swimmers who are dedicated and passionate about swimming, but have a limited financial capacity to pursue their dreams.

Since 2001, twenty-nine swimmers have received scholarships to swim with AGUA, Asphalt Green’s competitive age-group team. This group of talented, young swimmers, which includes an Olympic Trials qualifier and a national age-group record holder, carry on Andrew’s and Doug’s love of the water.
